Dr Sim West MBChB FRCA
Sim is an anaesthetist with 20 years experience. He is a substantive consultant at UCLH teaching hospital, where he is the lead for the orthopaedic hub. He practices independently at HCA hospitals, the London Clinic & the Hospital of St John & St Elizabeth. Specialities treated include General, Upper GI, Colorectal, Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology & many more. He manages high risk patients including difficult airways, high blood loss, paediatrics & emergency surgeries on a regular basis
Areas of Specialty
Nerve Blocks
Dr West is a renowned expert in ultrasound guided nerve blocks. Used where appropriate, these can vastly reduce postoperative pain for long periods, & enhance your recovery from surgery.
Neuraxial Blocks
Certain surgeries can be done using spinal or epidural anaesthetics. Dr West has a wide experience of these, & most of our lower limb surgery is done using these.
Intravenous Anaesthesia
Dr West uses total intravenous anaesthetics where appropriate, which often leads to a swifter, cleaner wake-up. They are also more environmentally friendly.
